Robert McCammon - The Wolf's Hour and The Hunter from the Woods

My review of Robert McCammon's two Michael Gallatin novels, The Wolf's Hour and The Hunter from the Woods, is now up at Strange Horizons here.

  1. Terrific review, Nathaniel... simply terrific.

I've had my eye on these books for a while now - to be honest I have my eye on most anything SubPress puts out, but of late I've been ogling these McCammons in particular - but I guess I'll give them a miss; those sex scenes specifically sound excruciating.

Maybe I'll take the time you've saved me to catch up on one of his more reputable novels instead. Have you read Swan Song, sir?

  2. These two were my introduction to McCammon, actually. I know he's an incredible reputation, but... well, to put it rather mildly, I don't see it. Maybe his other works are indeed better. Looking forward to seeing what you think if you do indeed choose to delve into Swan Song.

  3. Yeah, he has way better stuff. I recommend the Matthew Corbett series. SWAN SONG is probably the best post-apocalyptic book ever, if you like that stuff.
